The Christmas Market, or Weihnachtsmarkt, at Bernkastel is one of best Christmas markets in the Mosel wine region, albeit relatively small.   It is has the perfect setting amongst the medival houses of the old market square and the sorrounding small roads with their famous half-timbered buildings which add a touch of atmosphere (and maybe romance?!) not found anywhere else.  Add to that the smells and aromas of Gluwein and Lebkuchen (ginger bread cake) and Bernkastel give you a fantasic German Christmas Market in the most beautiful setting.

And of course, Haus Anna Maria our 1850's half-timbered family holiday home only a few minutes walk from the centre of the Christmas market, provides the ideal place from which to enjoy this not to be missed event.

The larger Christmas Market at Trier is well worth a visit too
