BERNKASTEL-KUES

Bernkastel-Kues was originally two towns, Bernkastel and Kues but they were united by the bridge over the Mosel. The famous and very picturesque old market square is in Bernkastel, which is the part of the town that Haus Anna Maria is situated in. Our house is a only a couple of minutes walk from the market square.

Bernkastel-Kues lies in the Middle Mosel, between Trier and Traben-Trarbach and is famous for some of the finest Riesling vineyards in all Germany.

Bernkastel-Kues is only 25 minutes from Frankfurt Hahn Airport in the Hunsrueck. Hahn is the main German airport of Ryanair and so has cheap flights from the Stansted, Glasgow, Stockholm, Dublin, Oslo, Milan and many other European destinations.

The Landshut Castle of Bernkastel looks down upon the town and you can enjoy fantastic views of the Mosel valley and Bernkastel from its elevated position.

There are many cafés and Restaurants to choose from in the narrow streets and alleys of Bernkastel. In summer you can sit outside and enjoy the ambience of the town whilst sipping a coffee, beer, or of course a glass of Riesling as well as maybe sampling one of the cakes that Germany is renowned for.

There is always something happening in Bernkastel, from its wine festival, Christmas market, music festivals, hot-air balloon festival and one day a year they even close the roads to cars and the cyclists take over! Then of course there are river cruises, many miles of walking paths and many cycle ways.
